Students, accompanied by Assistant Professor Sonal Khanolkar, visited the Institute of Reservoir Studies (IRS), ONGC in Ahmedabad. The visit provided valuable exposure to the practical aspects of petroleum geoscience and reservoir studies.

During the visit, students attended a presentation on the functioning of IRS ,ONGC’s  approach to oil and gas exploration and production. The session covered the roles of various departments, including geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering.

A key highlight was the visit to the Petrophysical Laboratory, where students observed advanced instruments used to measure rock properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation. These parameters are critical in evaluating reservoir potential.

Students also had the opportunity to interact with ONGC professionals, who explained the workflow of reservoir studies and demonstrated laboratory techniques and equipment used in analyzing core samples and simulating reservoir conditions.

The visit enhanced students' understanding of real-world applications in the oil and gas industry and bridged the gap between academic learning and industry practices.
