Event Description

In this short course the students will learn about the modern carbonate environments, specifically Coral Reef systems. Students will learn about the past, present, and future of these systems, as well as, the organisms and sediments making these reefs, their composition, mineralogy, and texture. Students will learn about different depositional environments including forereef, reef flat and lagoon. The course will also focus on the effect of modern-sea-level rise in eroding and inundating islands associated with these settings.
