He is now working on the numerical modeling of accretionary wedges. His research interests include investigating mineralogical phase change and fluid flow estimates to simulate the decollement development inside accretionary wedges.

Saurabh earned a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics from Banaras Hindu University, followed by a 3-year M.Sc. Tech. in Applied Geophysics from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) in Dhanbad. After spending 1.5 years as a Ph.D. scholar at IISER Pune, he transferred to IIT Gandhinagar to complete his Ph.D.

His hobbies include playing badminton and snooker.
